Before stepping into design, I was a software researcher and then a web developer. Both roles still inform the process: research as the earliest form of ideation, and building in the browser as a way to test ideas.

If there is anything worth doing, it is considering people in every decision. That made the move from implementation to design feel natural. Finding solutions that are not elegant and accessible to all.

Creating is also personal. Over a decade helping my father piece together and install custom woodworking, a craft I still practice (with much less capability than him).
